At a young age, during a time were I was introduced to computers, I thought of the invention as something that I could "play" with when I became board. As time progressed I began to learn the fundamentals on how to use a computer and the purpose that it has. I would always look forward to computer class and thought of each session as a new adventure. I would ask the teacher a question, "Can someone in California see what I am doing on the computer?" He would laugh and reply, "I'm pretty sure they will, one day," and the class would chuckle as if I were asking a dumb question. We learned early on in school about the telephone, cameras, computers and other other inventions that are pertaining to technology.
As I have come into my adult years, I have been introduced to a whole realm of "new technology". I can honestly say that from watching the news and listening to what the media had to say about "Outsourcing" I would be very upset and disgruntled because I watched as a lot of American Citizens were losing their jobs--- becoming unemployed. I saw my father be laid off and his occupation is a Computer Programmer. He was unemployed for a year until he found a job in North Carolina (needless to say we live in Atlanta, GA). People began to have to in so many words outsource with in the United States of America just to be able to provide for their families.
From reading the "The World is Flat" the whole idea of outsourcing has enlightened me from a different perspective. If our country (USA) can open the doors to uniting the world on this front of technology through Globalization anything is possible. We can be given opportunities for example, working in India, forming our own companies as entrepreneurs and having people from another country handle the smaller parts of the business. Through technology we are able to come together with the intelligence needed to begin a "leveled playing field". This has to be one of the best books I have read in my lifetime, it is educational and exciting!

Great headline and great first post!
I like your idea that we too may be able to use the services of companies from other countries such as India.
I wonder, will we ever turn the tables and be able to offer them more specialized service than they have available using the same technology?
